Safeguarding
Our Safeguarding Information Leaflet
Safeguarding and Child Protection is one of the most important aspects of the work we do at Ashwicken C of E Primary School. If a child does not feel safe then they will not be able to learn.
In this section of the website you will find information in relation to safeguarding within our school alongside parent and carer guidance, and web links to help you gain further advice understanding or contact details for any support you may require. All guidance is taken from Norfolk County Council or other professional external organisations.
Our school operates a policy of restricting unsupervised access to students to only those who have been correctly vetted.
As a parent or carer of a child at Ashwicken C of E Primary School, if you feel a child is at risk or is the subject of abuse you should contact the school and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead who is our Head Teacher, Mrs Dickson or our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Woodhouse. We will discuss with you any concerns in confidence and consider the best way to address the issues raised. This may involve sharing the information further with other professionals.
We are totally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding legislation and government guidance says that safeguarding means:
•Protecting children from maltreatment
•Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
•Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
•Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome
Safeguarding includes child protection, health care plans, health and safety, site security, safety on school trips, anti-bullying work and so much more. ALL staff have a safeguarding responsibility in school.
All staff receive annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training and are aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within school.
If any members of the school or local community have concerns about the welfare of a child in the school, please pass them on to the School Designated Safeguarding Leads.
