Police visit

Year 6 welcomed PC Moorland and PC Barnes to school.

The aim of this visit was to enhance our students' understanding of personal safety and help them make informed choices as they prepare to transition to high school. PC Moorland and PC Barnes delivered an engaging presentation on various aspects of personal safety, including the potential repercussions of sharing inappropriate content. They discussed the legal and social consequences that can arise from actions such as cyberbullying, sexting, or spreading harmful rumors online; and explained the importance of treating others with respect and empathy in both the digital world and real-life interactions.

The rise of social media platforms presents both opportunities and challenges for young individuals. While these platforms provide connectivity and the chance for self-expression, they also expose our children to potential risks and consequences if not used appropriately. The session encouraged the children to think critically about the content they post, share, or download online. Emphasising the importance of protecting personal information, including their full name, address, and contact details, and advising them to only accept friend requests or engage with people they know in real life. address the topic of digital safety.

Together, we can equip our children with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the online world responsibly

We encourage you to have an open dialogue with your child about their experiences during the police visit. This serves as an opportunity for parents/carers to reinforce the importance of personal safety and responsible decision-making.

We will be working with PC Barnes to organise an online safety workshop for parents and carers in the autumn term. Expert professionals will provide practical tips and guidance on how to promote responsible online behavior and safeguard your child against potential dangers. We strongly encourage your attendance at this workshop, as we believe that a collaborative effort between school and home is fundamental in ensuring the well-being and safety of our students.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the visit and upcoming event, please do not hesitate to contact us.
