Ashwicken Foundation Curriculum Overviews
Welcome to our webpage overview of our foundation curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all children receive a comprehensive education that covers all aspects of the national curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.
At our school, we have mixed age classes, which means that children from different year groups are taught together. To accommodate this setup, our foundation curriculum works on a four-year cycle, with key stages studying the same content at the same time. This allows us to provide consistent and aligned teaching to all students, regardless of their year group.
There is one exception to this pattern. In upper Key Stage 2, specifically Years 5 and 6, we deviate from the regular curriculum cycle due to the specific content that needs to be covered in the curriculum. As a result, children in this stage will follow a modified curriculum to ensure that they are adequately prepared for the challenges of their final years of primary education.
Regardless of the year group or key stage, every child will cover all the required content from the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 national curriculum within their time in each key stage. Our dedicated and experienced teaching staff work diligently to ensure that every child receives a well-rounded education that meets and exceeds national standards.
