1:1 SEN Classroom Assistant

We are looking for an ambitious, qualified 1:1 SEN Classroom Assistant whose values match ours. The successful candidate will be supporting a child who in our reception class who has significant SEN needs. Your main responsibility will be to support this child’s learning needs and support them with their learning and daily routine during the school hours and on trips. You will also be supporting the school on a wider basis by supporting teaching and learning as needed. The contract is ongoing, 25 hours over a 5 day a week. You will work on a 1:1 basis supporting the child to progress socially and academically. The role will have an additional 1 hour midday supervisor position.

Applicants should have at least NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or an equivalent qualification, however applicants with proven, relevant experience will also be considered. You must also have experience of theory and practice of effective teaching and learning in Primary and be able to manage groups of children.

You will be working under the instruction/guidance of teaching or other senior staff and within the overall ethos of the school, undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including more specialised support for those with special education needs, enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or in other teaching areas. Part of the role will include lunch time duty

Ashwicken C of E Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to prove their identity, qualifications and enhanced DBS credentials before taking up the post.

This post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations and the successful applicant will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under these regulations.

Full induction and training will be given to the successful applicants.

Salary & Benefits

Salary  £23,114 pro rata (£11.98 per hour)
